This recipe is made with canned pears, but you can substitute with ripe pears, specially with delicious, fragrant and juicy Rocha Pears.
Did you know that "Pêra Rocha" (Rocha Pears or Portuguese Pears) are of Portuguese origin?
As some say, this pear was casually obtained from a seed, on Rocha's farm near Sintra, a pear tree different, with unusual quality fruits.
These pears are known today as "Pera Rocha do Oeste", a designation of origin, and currently this variety of Portuguese Pears is concentrated in the West of the country, on the waterfront from Sintra to Leiria.

Cut circles of puff pastry and put them on the oven tray.
Slice the pears and put them on top of the dough. Cover with chopped walnuts.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 220 º C.
Note: You can use ripe fresh pears, like Pêra Rocha, in this case peel the pears and take the stones out, drizzle with a little lemon juice to prevent oxidation and cook the same as before with butter and sugar.
