Welcome to Fulana Beltrana Sicrana’s studio!

I’m really glad to have my own space and I see it as a work in progress! I’m constantly changing and reorganizing things in order to make the space more and more effective and comfortable for me to work in it and for the people who are coming to meet the girls!

It’s a small space but it’s really important for me to know that I’m able to develop the all production process here – from the first cut until the last photo! I have my board where I write the orders and where I collect the images that I like and, as you can see, I have boxes everywhere! I find it the best way, at the moment, to organize things and to keep the dolls protected and ready to go out when we need to!

The atmosphere in the studio is great! There is a lot of light, music is always playing and I’m in a really good company! There is Ernesto, my needle assistant, my first Beltrana and the other girls hanging around!

Most of the times, it all starts from here. My fabrics! I get a lot of inspiration from the textiles I have and from the new ones that I’m receiving. It’s important to say that I work mostly with vintage fabrics that I’m collecting over the years that mainly belonged to my family and to my friends’ families and from recycled remnants fabrics that I carefully select.

In a way, they give me the first image of what I will create, in terms of style, of a new collection, of characters… I believe that’s often the starting point.

I’m a self thought sewer and I really enjoy figuring out how to make their clothes! Besides the bodies which I make based on models that I have designed, I normally cut each piece individually and in the moment when I’m creating a new doll. I simply start from squares, rectangles, for example, and then I’m sewing them, giving them the shape I pretend through the movement of my hands, without pinning the seams.

It’s about practice and visualization of what I want to create, a dress, shorts, a mini skirt… And that’s also why they are one-of-a-kind and unique dolls.
